The LGBTQ+ Long-Term Care Equality Index (LEI): Executive Briefing is an engaging and interactive self-paced eLearning series consisting of 3 half-hour sections. The series serves as an introduction to the purpose of the LEI, provides key terminology related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) identities and explores the latest research and information about LGBTQ+ people in long-term care settings. In addition, this series discusses policy and procedure recommendations related to serving LGBTQ+ residents and family members and identifies ways to assist long-term care communities in creating LGBTQ+ inclusive environments.

Why have training in LGBTQ+ resident-centered care?

As all healthcare organizations know, employee training is critical for policies to be lived out fully and consistently. Organizations have found training particularly important for ensuring LGBTQ+ resident-centered care. Training employees in LGBTQ+ concerns not only ensures that LGBTQ+ residents receive equitable and culturally competent care. It also helps to improve the general community climate towards all LGBTQ+ people, specifically LGBTQ+ employees.
